The active complex has an anti-inflammatory effect, reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines. The extract unifies pigmentation by inhibiting tyrosinase aktivity. Deoxyschisandrin and schisandrin B (the two major lignans of Schisandra chinensis), protected HaCaT cells from UVB-induced cell death by antagonizing the UVB-mediated production of ROS and induction of DNA damage. Asparacosins A and B in combination with d-galactose have a strong ability to scavenge radicals in vivo and can be used to reduce radicals on the skin and subsequently prevent aging. Polyphenolic compounds stabilizes the skin microbiome in the long term. The complex reduces skin redness, increases resistance to unwanted microbial colonization.
